Album Description MUZIK MAGAZINE SEP 2001 "Playfull oddball funk as approved by Mr Scruff The Tru Thoughts label is one of very few to embody and embrace the nonconformist spirit and welcome playfulness perhaps best characterised by Mrs C Ruff (as he's named-checked on the sleeve notes). So its fitting that 'We're just waiting for you now' finds Scruff's chum and like-minded mash-up maestro Jon Kennedy throwing similarly unconventional shapes with some aplomb. Thus 'Chocolates And Cheese' swings rinky-dink jazzual grooves, 'you're crazy' drops slo-mo funkage over typically cheeky sampled dialogue and 'Close Encounters Of The 7th Kind' loops old arthouse rock samples into a bassy, low-riding groove. Chirpier than an aviary and more chipper than Harry Ramsbottom's, this is enjoyably quirky shit.

From the Artist "If I can touch one person for the five minutes or so that one of my tracks last, I'm happy ! If I can get someone to sit down or dance or whatever for the sixty minutes that my album last then I've surpassed all that I thought music could ever give me..."

It's hard to pin down Jon's style due to his varying tastes and diverse record collection.

"It's all about the groove and feel of the back line. The drums and bass shape the feel of each track, what ever happens from then on is pretty organic, growing as I work on it."

About the Artist Jon is a one man outfit born in the hills of Dukinfield (Stockport) who has a heavy passion for beats and drum speek. He works from his mini-studio in an old Tudor style cottage (where the Scruffy one used to reside) just outside of Stockport town centre, cutting, pasteing and manipulating samples to fit his own style of drumming.

With 12 years worth of drumming under his belt, he has now moved on from various bands to writing his own organic works. Incorporating live acoustic guitar, bass and of course live drums with the odd scratch or sample. All styles apply with this young multi-instrumentalist.

Jon has amassed a sizeable store of tunes "just waiting" to be tapped into further. The future bodes well for the original 25 year old musician.
